Well lovelies, it’s May and that means that the makeup gods are blessing us with summer collections. First up to the platter: Becca Cosmetics. When they announced in early April that they were collaborating on a palette with none other than the internet queen, Chrissy Teigen, I knew without even seeing it that I had to have it. I have mentioned in a previous post how much of a fan I was of their BeccaXJaclynHill palette, which is still very loved so I knew that the quality had to be good. This palette contains 4 cheek products: a bronzer, two highlights and a blush, three which are new releases. The palette retails at $46 and it’s currently available at Sephora and Ulta.
The layout of this palette is similar than that of the Jaclyn Hill palette, as in the highlighters are bigger than the bronzer and blush. The biggest difference is that this palette has 4 colors, one of them a bronzer and Jaclyn’s had 5 colors, with three blushes and no bronzers. They claim that with this palette you can “go from natural, fresh, beach glow to a glowing goddess all in one palette”. I would have preferred the placing of the pans be different, the highlighters seem to envelop the bronzer and blush. Also since the blush and bronzer are in smaller pans it makes it harder to use a bigger brush to diffuse the color. If they would’ve been the same size it would put my OCD at ease.
- Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Beach Nectar (N)- Highlighter is gorgeous, a little like the Rose Gold color in this palette. It does pull very peach, in a way that reminds me of Champagne Pop.
- Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Rose Gold- This color is already in their regular line and it is gorgeous also. The formula is amazing and the color reminds me of molten rose gold.
- Sunlit Bronzer in Malibu Soleil (N)- When you look at it in the pan it seems like the bronzer might have some shimmer but on the skin, it really gives you that amazing sunkissed glow. As I said earlier I wish the pan size was bigger because this is an amazing product, probably my favorite in the palette.
- Luminous Blush in Hibiscus Bloom (N)- Becca claims that this is a “new” color exclusively in their palette, but I was sure that the Jaclyn Hill palette had a color that looked exactly like it. I pulled out the Jaclyn palette and decided to compare. Pamplemousse and Hibiscus Bloom looked reaaallly similar in the pans. When I swatched them they were IDENTICAL! I SEE YOU BECCA! I’ll leave swatches below so you can decide for yourself.
Regardless if Becca is playing us or not, the palette is a hit. When I used it I felt like I was a glow goddess at Coachella or, if you’re from Tennessee, Bonaroo! If you have Becca’s palette with Jaclyn Hill, you can pass on this one unless if you’re like me and you’re a makeup hoarder. I look forward to other brands summer collections! Jaclyn Hill and Morphe, iluvSarahii and colourpop, Jeffree’s summer colletion, ABH’s summer collection, etc.
